UClass Launches The First Ever Global Talent Show

This month, UClass is uniting talent from all over the world. We are hosting the first-ever global talent show. The UClass Talent Show Project will give students and teachers the opportunity to demonstrate and teach their unique skills to a world-wide audience. We invite you to join us and share your amazing talents.

Teacher steps for participation

  1. Respond to the world post at the top of your UClass page that says, “Teachers, will your class participate in the UClass Talent Show Project?”
  2. Once you respond, you will have a UClass Talent Show album created for you on your Projects page. Students can now begin uploading their work.

Announcing the Earth Day Project Winners

In April, UClass and Global Concerns Classrooms celebrated Earth Day by hosting the UClass Earth Day Project. Students from all over the world explored environmental issues that were important to them and developed action plans to help serve our planet. Our global network touched on issues present in Haiti, Ethiopia and Niger, uniting to raise concern to global warming, pollution, hunger and scarcity of water. UClassers went above and beyond to create thought-provoking and insightful projects that have inspired our community to make our world a better place.

Our judges were impressed by the quality of the Earth Day Projects, and we encourage you to view as many as you can. Without further ado, we present to you the winners of this year’s UClass Earth Day Project:

UClass Pitches at Teach For America Event!

On Friday, UClass CEO & Founder Zak Ringelstein presented UClass’ new assignment-sharing feature (to be released soon) to a room full of TFA alumni, educators, Ed Tech professionals, TFA staff members and investors at Teach For America’s Bay Area office. This event featured young TFA alumni who have gone on to continue making an impact in the classroom through innovation and social entrepreneurship.

Other companies present were SmarterCookie, ClassRaise, LessonOverflow, Plickers and Hero@Home. Big thanks to Vinit Sukhija and the TFA staff members who organized this event that brought together individuals revolutionizing the education space.

Earth Day Project Transforms UClassers Into Global Activists

This month UClass is hosting the Earth Day Project, challenging students around the world to explore the environmental issues that matter to them. Classrooms across the U.S. and in numerous countries, like Oman, New Zealand and India are researching and sharing the obstacles that trouble our planet and its inhabitants.

Below are a few examples of student work that shed light on a few global issues and provide a call to action.

Announcing the UClass Assignment Contest

Do you have assignment ideas that you have been dying to share with fellow teachers? Have you ever wished your classroom could collaborate with other students around the world on an assignment that you created?

On May 13th, you will have that opportunity to share your work with the rest of the world as UClass rolls out its new assignment-sharing product. This product will allow teachers to easily find content aligned to K12 standards, assign to their students, and engage students in global peer review.

The last day to submit your assignment will be on Friday, May 10. ALL submitted assignments will be featured for the world to participate in, but one assignment will be chosen as the UClass Project for May/June. The winning teacher will also win a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.

UClass hosts the NYC Global Education Forum

Wendy Kopp will keynote the New York City Global Education Forum at the Avenues World School on May 29th at 6:30pm. UClass and the Asia Society are co-hosting this event to, for the first time ever, unite the visions of policymakers, school leaders, entrepreneurs, teachers and students around global education.

If you are a teacher looking to open your classroom walls, a school leader looking to develop 21st century skills in your school or a systems level education innovator looking to reach a more global audience – we welcome you to join this dialogue.

Join us for an evening of keynotes, a panel discussion, breakout sessions and light snacks. You’ll walk away with a free book (given at the event) and an action plan to prepare your classroom or organization to be more global.

UClass Founder to Speak at Teacher’s College Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, UClass founder Leah Schrader will present UClass in front of graduate students at an EdLab seminar at Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. EdLab is a research, design, and development unit at Teachers College, Columbia’s school of education.

Leah will discuss the significance of global citizenship, her views on global education and the need UClass is meeting in the classroom. She will give attendees a tour of UClass and outline ways that educators can implement global learning into their instruction the next day.
